This Is By Far The Best Alcohol Advertisement Short-Film I’ve Ever Seen
It’s not every day that I can say “that was a great commercial.” This time isn’t really a “commercial” either, but it does promote a product. Kinda. Not really.
Okay, so it’s a great little short film promoting Absolut Greyhound in a really original way. By combining awesome costume work with impressivly smooth CGI and motion graphics, and camera work, they’ve managed to actually grab my attention in an ad (knowing that it was an ad) for a full 3 minutes and 39 seconds.
Greyhound is a new product by Absolut, maker of “premium” priced vodka. This is the “world premiere of multi-dimensional cocktail experiences” with music by Swedish House Mafia. The three DJs (from Swedish House Mafia) Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso gear up for a race with robotic greyhounds. The dogs race outside with dressed up spectators watching in on the action. The victor gets to sip the beverages: one part vodka, three-parts grapefruit. Special effects within the racing competition have their role, and they all eventually finish strong.
It’s a very well produced video. Whether or not I’ll buy the drink… eh, maybe not. But I was very much entertained all three times I watched it.
