The New Verizon iPad Can Be Used On The AT&T 3G Network As Well
The New iPad is the first iPad to support LTE technology, and enter into the 4G world of communication. The new iPad was also said to work with both AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE, but that due to the differences between the carriers on the technical end, there would need to be two separate versions.
It was assumed then, that once you went and bought one model, you wouldn’t be able to use it on the other carrier whenever you wanted. Turns out, that’s not actually true. The Verizon iPad will work on AT&T’s network still. Just not LTE.
Makes sense, considering the new iPad has more bands for connectivity than any mobile device ever made. It’s safe to say then, that if you want a 4G LTE-compatible iPad, but aren’t sure which carrier you’d be better with, you should probably chose a Verizon model. At least then, it will be compatible with both!
According to a forum poster over at MacRumors, one needs simply to slip an AT&T SIM card into their Verizon model iPad, and it’ll simply work. as long as you have the AT&T AP carrier settings put into it.
This doesn’t work the other way, however. Due to Verizon’s CDMA network, the AT&T model iPad will not support Verizon’s 3G network.
