Microsoft Stops The Zune! Apple iPod Gains Total Control!

Microsoft has announced that it will be putting a halt indefinitely to the Zune. Their mobile media player was meant to compete with Apple’s iPod, but failed to even come close to the numbers needed to stay alive in this highly competative market. They’ve stated that they will continue to sell the current models, but they aren’t going to be making any newer ones.

Mircosoft attempted to give the Zune a bit of a comeback in 2009 when they brought the Zune HD into the field, but once again the iPod (touch) was just too much for the Microsoft media player. With the death of the Zune finally complete, and Sony failing to do anything in regards to competing with the iPod, it’s fair to say (even though we could have said it already) that Apple now completely owns the mobile media industry.
