iPad 2 Going On Sale!
iPAD 2 GOES ON SALE IN RETAIL STORES (U.S.) AT 5PM EASTERN TIME. If you do not want to wait at a store and all that jazz, you will also have the option of ordering online! You will be able to order starting at 1am Pacific Time, and 4am Eastern Time. Orders will only last as long as the supply does, so if this is your plan: Be ready!
Those who don’t want to wait for delivery will be able to buy an iPad 2 at 5 p.m. local time at all 236 Apple retail stores in the U.S. The multi-touch tablet will also be available at 5 p.m. local time at AT&T, Best Buy, Target, Verizon Wireless, and Walmart stores, as well as select Apple Authorized resellers.
Apple is offering free Personal Setup service, helping them customize their iPad 2 by setting up email, loading new apps from the App Store and more, so they’ll be up and running with their new iPad 2 before they leave the store. This is a pretty decent deal, but it also means that all those Apple Stores will be PACKED FULL of people. The wait time will likely be measured in hours for a lot of people.
The company also revealed that iMovie and Garageband for iPad are available in the App Store starting today for $4.99 each. Contrary to what you may have heard, iMovie and Garageband both, work for iPad 1 as well (they do not require iPad 2). Garageband and iMovie are by far the best value on the App Store for those who require apps for creativity in their lives. To find out more about those, check out the iPad 2 article that mentions these great apps, or find them on the App Store! (iMovie / Garageband)
iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in the U.S. on March 11 for a suggested retail price of $499 for the 16GB model, $599 for the 32GB model, $699 for the 64GB model. iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G will be available for a suggested retail price of $629 for the 16GB model, $729 for the 32GB model and $829 for the 64GB model. This is the same price structure as the previous iPad, so there should be no surprises when you get to the check out (if you are familiar with the previous iPad that is). The price structure doesn’t change for Verizon Customers wishing to get their hands on one as well. It’s still $629 for the 16GB model, $729 for the 32GB model and $829 for the 64GB model.
