How To Use Your Laptop As An Internet HotSpot Router For Windows & Mac
Doesn’t it suck when you don’t have a router, but you have my devices that have WiFi. They can be cell phones, iPods, Xboxs, etc. I was asked by a member of of FaceBook Fan Page (Which you should join by the way), to see if it possible. I looked into it and here we are!
You need to be on a wired connection on your laptop and your laptop should have a WiFi card.
Windows Vista / Windows 7
- Have the Ethernet cable plugged in and verify that you can go online.
- From here. It depends on how your menu is displayed.
- (Category Menu) Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Internet -> Network & Sharing Center -> Set up a new connection or network -> Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer to computer) network
- (Icon Menu) Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Sharing Center -> Set up a new connection or network -> Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer to computer) network
- Put a name for the network and a password is recommended.
- Press Turn On Internet Connection Sharing
Mac OS
- Have the Ethernet cable plugged in and verify that you can go online.
- System Preferences -> Sharing
- Select the internet tab
- Where it says Share your connection from, select Built In Ethernet
- Where it says To Computers Using, make sure the only box checked is AirPort
- Put a name for the network and a password is recommended.
- Press start and you are good to go!
