How To Untethered Jailbreak iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad Running iOS 5.1.1 Using Greenpois0n Absinthe 2.0
Ladies and gentlemen, the Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 is finally here! From the time the update rolled in after 5.0.1, users have been patiently waiting to have their freedom back, and to jailbreak their iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads running the latest and greatest iOS! Gladly, I’m here to announce that the wait is finally over!
Through hard work and dedication to the community they’ve helped create, the Chronic Dev Team has officially released an update to Absinthe, their jailbreaking tool released originally back in January of this year. Absinthe has been packaged up to be an extremely simple jailbreak, with a simple user interface to follow for even the noobiest of noobs to the jailbreaking world.

To get this awesome Untethered jailbreak, you’ll need to be using one of the devices listed above. If you’re already on iOS 5.1.1, you’re set and ready to rock to the steps below. If you’re not already on iOS 5.1.1, you can now safely update to it using the normal iTunes update process, or with the Over the Air updates provided on the phone itself. IMPORTANT: If you rely on an unlock for your device to work properly, DO NOT UPDATE VIA ITUNES NORMALLY! You’ll update your baseband, and your ability to unlock may be lost.
Steps to Jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 5.1.1 Using Greenpois0n Absinthe 2.0
Step 1: Download Absinthe 2.o.1 using the links provided in our DOWNLOADS SECTION. This will be kept up to date.
Step 2: Extract the files from the compressed file container you downloaded, and place the contents someplace easy to access (like the Desktop).
Step 3: Connect the iDevice to the computer via USB. You cannot do this via WiFi.
Step 4: Now Launch the Absinthe tool. Once it’s open, and your device is attached to the computer, click “Jailbreak.” Make sure you read the text as well.
The device will appear to be going through a total restore. Don’t be alarmed, just check out the progress bar on the screen for some feedback on its progress. For safety, don’t do anything with the phone at this time. it’s probably best you set it down, and leave it alone all together. Everything will be taken care of for you.
That’s really all there is to it. It’s one of the simplest processes to jailbreak ever. On your home screen, you’ll see the ever-popular Cydia sitting there awaiting your commands.
