UPDATED!

BEFORE PROCEEDING: Please note that this jailbreak is NOT compatible with iPad 2! If you have iPad 2, you cannot use this successfully. Please wait. ALSO, and this is really important, if you need an unlock at all, no matter what firmware, please DO NOT USE THIS TOOL YET! Ultrasn0w is broken with it, however an update should be out soon to patch it up.

THIS APPLIES ONLY TO iOS 4.3.1 and iOS 4.3.2!! – The video will show iOS 4.3.1. The process is the same for both.

Redsn0w 0.9.6RC9 supports iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom, new bootrom), iPhone 4 (GSM),, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, and the 1st-gen iPad.  It DOES NOT support Apple TV2 and iPad 2 right now. The untether won’t work in it’s current state on the iPad2 because it requires a bootrom or iBoot-level exploit to install. iPad2 is currently not susceptible to any exploit that’s been made into a public tool, yet.

Below are the steps to jailbreak

Step 1: Connect the chosen iDevice that you have to your computer (Mac or Windows) using that awesome USB cable you got.

Step 2: Update your device to iOS 4.3.1 or iOS 4.3.2 firmware, if you haven’t already. You’ll need to be on that firmware to work. DOWNLOAD

Step 3: Run Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14. Now, when it asks you to “Browse,” Point the application to the firmware you just downloaded.

Step 4: Click Next, and RedSn0w will identify your firmware, and when clicking Next again, will perform a few patches.

Step 5: You will now have a new screen where you can select packages to install. Select to Install Cydia (This is all you need. Don’t click other boxes unless you know what you are doing). – Those who are using an iPad for this process will have more options to choose from than the photo below, including things such as activating multitouch gestures and such.

Step 6: Now you will need to have your iPhone OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer. You achieve this by plugging it into the computer BEFORE you switch it off. Otherwise the phone just turns back on when you hook it up. When this step is done, simply follow the on screen instructions to complete the process.

Once you see code running down your screen, followed by a Pinapple dude, you know you have done it successfully! If you need further assistance, there is a vide right here to help guide you along the process! (PLEASE NOTE: I say “iOS 4.3 and iOS 4.3.1 in the video. This ONLY applies to iOS 4.3.1. iOS 4.3 will be tethered).

NOTE: Unlock now works for this process with iOS 4.3.1 using redsn0w 0.9.6rc12. Please ignore the part about it not working for an unlock now. Watch the video on YouTube so that you can see the annotations.

I've been working on this for the past two hours, I tried to update my iOS to 4.3.1 through iTunes and it got stuck and now my phone is in recovery mode. Now I have iTunes on trying to restore my phone iOS from the downloaded 4.3.1 that I have on my desktop that I was gonna use with redsn0w and it starts to load and stops right in the middle of it. So I'm stuck with my phone connected to iTunes in recovery mode with half of my new iOS loaded. Should I just wait for it to fully load or what should I do??? Please help!

You need to use "RecoveryFix". Drag that code into Terminal, place your device in DFU, and hit Enter. You can get it from thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com

Please just wait till our help article is complete on this. It will work. It'll be laid out so plainly and easy too... It'll go live around 4 or 5 tomorrow afternoon (after I get out of class)

And recovery with no success either. I even tried using Greenpois0n and PwnageTool and even going into terminal and tried that...nothing. At this point I'm ready to call Apple and pay the $29 fee or go to my local Apple store for help.

New video and Wally rough coming tonight. It will walk you trough updating, and not having to deal with recovery... You should have used Tiny Umbrella, and you'll need recoveryfix as well, from the same site. More later. Stay tuned.
