Facebook Rolls Out “Listen With Friends” To Let You Hear Music As Your Friends Hear It

Facebook has just rolled out a new feature that will allow people to listen to music that their friends are listening to at the exact moment they are listening to it. The new feature will give you the ability to share in the music listening experience alongside your friends with the music completely synchronized between listeners over the social network.
Using music streaming services like Spotify and Rdio, you’ll be able to share your music listening with your friends. Friends who are also using these services will be able to take advantage of this new feature, which Facebook has appropriately labeled “Listen with Friends.”
Facebook representative Alexandre Roche posted the announcement to the Facebook Blog Thursday morning: “You can listen to the same song, at the exact same time—so when your favorite vocal part comes in you can experience it together, just like when you’re jamming out at a performance or dance club.”
The new feature opens up many possibilities for having social gatherings and having music streaming between people, such as at a party. Imagine how easy it would be to have the same song synchronized throughout the house at your next party, allowing one person to act as a DJ and take advantage of everyone’s speakers simultaneously.
The feature will gradually become available for all people who currently use Spotify and Rdio to share music on their profiles, and joining in on the party will be as easy as clicking a little button next to a friend’s name.
