Development for the BlackBerry PlayBook just got a whole lot more interesting. The DingleBerry (Yes, that is its’ real name) rooting tool has been released. Right now the benefit for end users is minimal. With the root access “Pandora’s Box” is open, and we should see more developer attention. This attention is likely due to the reduced pricing we have seen all over the US/Canada. If you have a PlayBook and would like root access, it is available for Windows users at DingleBerry.it Mac download coming soon.

I will be watching progress on this closely. I can not wait to see what the homebrew community can come up with for RIM’s impressive hardware, while we wait for the official OS 2.0 in February.

Below you will find a video demonstrating root access on the PlayBook, as well as Hulu working in the native browser. (Hulu workaround isnt included in this release, but expect it soon)
