Bird Zapper: A Surprisingly Good Addition to the Bird App Selection (App Store)
Picture this: You are a master of birds. You’ve dominated the high scores of all your friends in Tiny Wings, gotten all the way through Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and/or the forever epic Angry Birds Rio, even played through Air Penguin, and yet you are still not satisfied. You are looking for a quick bird fix, but don’t know what other game could ever challenge you… I have an answer I think.
Bird Zapper! ($0.99) is a game that’ll keep you busy for a while. It’s developed by Namco Networks America Inc., and it allows you to challenge your matching skills and finger speed in yet another great bird game on the App Store. Now you’ll stay addicted to the bird genre a little longer as you try to zap all the birds off the power lines! haha!
Now, I’ll be up front with ya… this wasn’t as fun as angry birds for me, but it’s still quite fun. There are three different game modes for you to play through. Survival mode involves a bar on the screen that decreases as time goes on, and the only way to slow down the time till it’s empty, is to zap them damn birds! How long can you keep up the heat, and prevent the energy bar from reaching zero? Survival mode gradually gets more challenging by adding more lines and going faster. Then there is Blitz mode, the birds move really fast and electrical lines are added during play. Beginners should probably not want to start with Blitz, but instead they’ll likely find a nice easy pace with Zen mode. This is fairly relaxed, you don’t lose any power and the game just keeps on going and going. It’s pretty much the place to get used to things, before stepping it up (and the level you’ll likely give your young child to keep them quiet on car rides! Before you begin, this mode allows you to choose three, four or five rows of birds, with more rows, obviously being a bit harder.
An where would we be in a bird game without great sound? Nowhere, exactly. That’s exactly why Bird Zapper has some really awesome sounds to go with it. The birds, as you zap them, make different screeching noises according to their species, and the music is actually quite good as well. The greatest games often have memorable sound-scapes and this one will likely qualify.
